Gamecase Privacy Policy

Last updated September 30, 2026

Gamecase is published by Playsthetic LLC. It has no analytics, advertising or crash reporting, and it never uploads your files. This page describes what Gamecase keeps and everything it sends off your device. Our Privacy Policy covers the rest, including how long we keep what reaches us, your rights, and how to contact us.

On your device

Your playlists, favorites, recents and cached artwork stay on your device.

In your folders

Gamecase writes to your MAME folders. Favorites go into MAME's own favorites.ini, games you download go into your ROM folder, and deleting a game removes it for good rather than moving it to the Trash.

What leaves your device

Artwork

When a game has no artwork on your device, Gamecase downloads it from the libretro-thumbnails project on GitHub, so GitHub sees the name of the game.

Received by GitHub.

Game downloads

Downloading a game fetches it from the address you entered in Settings, and only that server sees the request.

Received by the server you chose.

MAME updates

If MAME was installed with Homebrew, Gamecase asks Homebrew whether it is out of date, and installs or upgrades it when you ask. Homebrew's own analytics apply to that, unless you turned them off.

Received by Homebrew.

Update checks

Copies downloaded from our website or installed with Homebrew check for a newer version by fetching a small file from s3.playsthetic.com. The request carries only what any web request carries, such as your IP address, and our server logs keep it for up to 7 days. Downloading an update is counted like any other download, as our Privacy Policy describes.

Received by Playsthetic LLC.

Deleting your data

What Gamecase keeps on your device or writes into your folders never reaches us, so you can delete it yourself at any time. To ask about anything that did reach us, see Your rights in our Privacy Policy.
